The Gravity-Defying SkyPark of Singapore

The SkyPark is a huge boat-shaped, cantilevered observation deck crowning three 55-story towers of the Marina Bay Sands hotel in Singapore. It is an engineering wonder that gives visitors the most spectacular 360º views of the city and marina of Singapore. The view at sunset, as the lights of the city come alive, is particularly enchanting.

The SkyPark is 340 meters long. To put the distance in perspective that equates to two-tenths of a mile, 3.75 football fields or the length of the Eiffel Tower laid on its side! It can accommodate 3,900 visitors who can immortalize their visit with purchases from roving photographers and souvenirs from the merchandise booth.
A glamorous infinity pool runs nearly half the length of the whole park, making it the longest vanishing edge pool in the world. Only hotel guests have swimming privileges, but ticketed SkyPark visitors can get the edge-of-the-world pool views from part of the public observation deck.

The Marina Bay Sands complex that is the foundation of the elevated SkyPark is a masterpiece in and of itself.  The hotel has 2,561 rooms in the three towers. In front of each tower are blocks containing the world’s largest atrium casino and a massive convention and exhibition center. Two large theaters, currently playing The Lion King and various international acts, as well as a large ice skating rink complete the entertainment blocks. In front of the entertainment blocks, the largest light and water spectacular in Southeast Asia, called Wonder Full, takes place to the delight of thousands of onlookers from ground level and above.
The ArtScience Museum next to the entertainment blocks is another unique architectural construction. The lotus-shaped building has a retractable roof that opens for laser shows at night. While it is closed, the roof collects rainwater which tumbles down an indoor waterfall that is recycled to flush toilets.
The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands should be adequate to sustain even the most dedicated shopaholic. Over 300 stores, outlets and luxury boutiques fill nearly 1,000,000 square feet of retail space. A canal runs the length of the Shoppes and sampan rides are available for guests and shoppers. Six celebrity chef restaurants offer casual and fine dining to round out the complete offerings of the complex.
The Marina Bay Sands and SkyPark is a glittering jewel in the fascinating city of Singapore. If you would like to experience this fabulous resort, contact Covington Travel to make complete travel arrangements.
